Food Safety Dept inspects FCI godown Anantnag, seizes 1000 bags of rice

Anantnag Sep 18 (KINS): In compliance to the directions of Commissioner FDA, J&K, the Food Safety team district Anantnag inspected the FCI godown located at Mir Bazaar Anantnag.

During the inspection, the team seized 1000 bags each weighing 50 kg (a total of 50000kg) from the godown after the completion of all legal formalities. “Furthermore, a total of four samples (4) from rice, fortified rice, and wheat have been procured for comprehensive analysis. The Quality Control Manager of the godown has been put on notice as the team found the godown in shabby conditions without any proper mechanism for storage, FIFO, ventilation, and other pest control activities,” a statement of the department said.

“On 17/09/2021, the Food Safety team district Anantnag upon inspection of fair price shop, Anchidora had seized 140 bags of rice weighing 50 kg’s (7000 kg) containing dust, rodent excreta, and other objectionable materials after completion of all the legal formalities,” the statement reads.
