Massive protests for open admissions in Cluster University Jammu continue.

Police detains several students during scuffle while students tried to block the Canal road.

Jammu, Sept 30 ( KINS): Hundreds of Students continued their agitation and held a massive protest demonstration outside Cluster University campus GGM Science College Jammu against the dictatorial attitude of the administration. Students alleged Cluster University administration of playing with their future. They allege that Cluster University did similar in last year and had learned nothing from that. Protesting students raised slogans against Vice-chancellor of Cluster University and demand open admissions for all.

Gathered students further tried to block the Canal road where they indulge in the scuffle with the police. Meanwhile police detained eight students and took them to the Police Post Canal road. One student Rahul Sharma also got injured during the protest. The protest was led by student leaders Atul Sudan (State Vice President Jammu Joint Students Federation), Anshu Sharma, Parteek Raina, Piyush and others.

Addressing the massive gathering of the admission seekers Parteek Raina said that it is very unfortunate that instead of increasing the capacity of the city colleges the administration in connivance with the state government is hell-bent to destroy the future of student community of Duggar region as the capacity of the city colleges was almost 15000 which is reduced to 6000 for this session. He said that students who have passed their higher secondary examinations have every right to take admission in the colleges for further studies.

Atul Sudan in his address alleged that UT administration has failed to address the genuine grievance of students. He said it is now more than a week that students are on road fighting for the their basic fundamental right of right to education and there are students who have secured more than 85% and are yet not provided admissions in Cluster University. He alleged that Vice Chancellor of Cluster University is playing with the careers of thousand of students from Jammu region which will be never tolerated. He said administration should not test the patience of students community as this can result in mass agitation for which the administration will be responsible. Students appealed Lieutenant Governor to intervene and save the future of thousand of students who have passed with good percentage in their 12th class examinations by declaring admissions open for all pass out students. They further warned higher education department and administration cluster university that if soon they will fail to address their issues they will take this agitation to all districts and colleges making it a mass movement.
