Directs officials for strict enforcement of rates
ANANTNAG, NOVEMBER 09 ( KINS): The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla today convened a meeting here to review the sale prices of raw and processed minor minerals in the district.
At the outset, it was informed that two minor mineral blocks have been registered and will become operational in the district, and accordingly in this backdrop revision of rates is being carried out.
The meeting held thorough deliberations on the present rates of minerals and discussion was held on altering rates, as per present market conditions.
The DC also took stock of the availability of minor minerals in the district. He directed the concerned to ensure that developmental activities are carried out smoothly.
Reviewing the implementation of MMRD Act in the district, the District Mineral Officer apprised the chair that strict vigilance is being maintained to check illegal mining. He also informed the chair that strict action has been initiated against violators and various FIRs have also been lodged in this regard.
Speaking on the occasion, SSP Anantnag Ashish Mishra assured all possible support from the police department. He emphasized the need to coordinate activities among various enforcement wings and pushed for zero tolerance towards illegal mining.
The District Mineral Officer informed the meeting that special enforcement drives have been conducted to check illegal mining in the district and added that in the last four months, 280 vehicles and 19 JCBs have been seized by the departments and a fine of Rs. 60 lacs has also been realized. He also said that the department has conducted public darbars and public hearings to spread awareness regarding illegal mining among the people.
The DC directed the officials to ensure strict penal action is taken against violators, particularly repeat offenders.
He also directed the DMO to ensure that notified govt rates are displayed conspicuously at selling points to ensure transparency in sale of minerals.
The District Administration Anantnag has notified helplines for the common public to report any instance of illegal mining or selling of mineral at rates above notified rates. Aggrieved citizens can call on 7006752095 to lodge their complaints.
The meeting was attended by SE R&B, ADC Anantnag, ACR Anantnag, Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control besides by officials from Police, Revenue, R&B, Minerals, Irrigation and Flood Control department.( KINS)
