Road Race held at Shopian

 

SHOPIAN, NOVEMBER 23 ( KINS): The Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani today flagged of road race in presence of District Youth Service and Sports Officer (DYS&SO), Shopian, Gurmukh Singh Dutta at Padapawan, Shopian.

Boys in the age group of Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 years participated in the race that commenced from Padapawan and culminated at Circuit House, Shopian.

More than 500 students from various Educational (Government as well as Private) institutions of the district participated in the race.

Addressing the participants, the ADC laid stress on active participation in Sports activities to channelize the energy of youth in a positive way besides for their over physical and mental development.

At the culmination of the race, a presentation ceremony was held at Circuit House where prizes were distributed among the first three position holders.

In the age group of Under 14 Tahzeer Sayed secured Ist position, Toib Hussain Chohan came 2nd while Zubair Manzoor got 3rd.

In Under-17 years, Muqeem Khaliq bagged Ist position, Aarif Ahmed Poswal got 2nd while Gulzar Ahmed Poswal came 3rd.

In Under-19 category, Yawer Nabi, Aaqib Nazir and Rouf Manzoor bagged Ist, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.

Chief Education Officer Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmad, Officers and other concerned officials from Department of Youth Services & Sports and Education Department were present on the occasion.( KINS)
