Apni Party Student Union urges VC KU to reconsider mode of examinations

Ibrahim Javaid Shah meets delegation of Law Students

Srinagar Nov 24 (KINS): Ibrahim Javaid Shah, the Provincial Student Wing President of the Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party, urged the Vice-Chancellor of Kashmir University to reconsider the mode of examinations in the Department of Law, which is currently set for physical examinations, to online mode, in light of the sharp spike in the number of positive cases.

Students from different Kashmir University affiliated colleges, as well as students from the Department of Law at Kashmir University, comprised up the law student delegation.

The delegation informed the Apni Student Union President of the myriad issues that students encounter as a result of the mismanagement at Kashmir University.

In a statement issued here, Shah said that the students who were twice vaccinated were the only ones who took physical classes, which made up only over 20% of the entire student count.

“How come Kashmir University has shut off the Covid-19 alarm during exams when the cases are steadily increasing? Holding physical examination can potentially cause community transmission,” he said.

Shah also asked the Vice Chancellor’s involvement in regards to the hostel facilities given by Kashmir University, where students dwell in miserable circumstances and the cold weather is causing many problems for them.

He went on to say that the Department of Law does not allow for reassessment of papers submitted and that students must wait a year to take backlog examinations.

Shah stated that these students of law have greater responsibility to play an active role in society building by way of becoming responsible lawyers and also members of the judiciary and in future, they have the potency to strengthen the legal justice system.

He demanded that Kashmir University must provide a stable atmosphere for students so that they do not lose access to education during these difficult times. (KINS)
