Police arrested 03 accused involved in sextortion in Srinagar

September 28: “`Police in Srinagar have arrested 03 accused involved in sextortion. More arrests are expected in the instant case.

On 27/09/2022, Police Station Shergarhi received a written complaint from a person namely Nazir Ahmad Rather son of Late Gh. Nabi Rather resident of Dalwan Chaar-e-Shareef, Budgam stated therein that some days before, he received a call from one lady and insisted him to meet for some work.

Accordingly, he met her near Bakshi Stadium Srinagar. The said lady took him to her room at Reck Chowk Batamaloo and started levelling false allegations against him inside the room. In the meantime 03 other men (associates of the lady) forcibly entered the room and started making video. Then she along with her accomplices started blackmailing him and he fell prey into a well planned conspiracy of sextortion.

On receipt of this complaint, a case vide FIR No. 76/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered in Police Station Shergarhi and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, officers have arrested 03 accused involved in the commission of crime. They have been identified as Shaista Bashir @Saba wife of Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie resident of Galwan pora A/P Narkara Budgam, Jahangir Ahmad Dar son of Khazer Muhammad Dar resident of Pethpohru Handwara and Aijaz Ahmad Ganaie son of Ghulam Muhammad resident of Galwan pora Hyderpora A/P Narkara Budgam. There are some other victims of this gang and more arrests are also expected in the instant case and further investigation is going on.“`
