These players, chosen through the annual championship held in Kupwara, are part of a 14-day tour to Pune, organized by the ASEEM Foundation, a Pune-based NGO dedicated to youth and women empowerment in border regions.
The journey began on 12 Dec 23 when the team, comprising 16 players, Officer in Charge (Women Officer), JCO-IC, and two NCOs (NA and Coach), was flagged off from Patahiri Garrison. The tour aims not only to provide exposure and training but also to enhance camaraderie among the players.
Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi expressed his commendation for the selected players, urging them to embody the spirit of sportsmanship in their daily lives. The interaction focused on instilling confidence and motivation in the players, emphasizing the transformative power of sports.
During their 14-day tour, the players will engage in practice and exhibition matches, interact with national and Ranji players, and have the unique opportunity to witness the India-Australia cricket match in Mumbai. This initiative not only promotes sports but also serves as a platform for cultural exchange and holistic development, reflecting the Indian Army’s commitment to fostering positive change in the communities it serves.
