Bone-Chilling Night in Kashmir: Srinagar Hits Season’s Coldest at Minus 5.4°C; Cold Wave Tightens Across the Region

Srinagar, Dec 14: The unyielding cold wave tightens its grip on Kashmir as Srinagar endures the coldest night of the season at a bone-chilling minus 5.4°C.
Meteorological officials note a substantial temperature drop from the previous night, emphasizing the severity of the exceptionally chilly night.

Pahalgam experiences a notable temperature decline, reaching minus 5.8°C, while Gulmarg, known for its winter charm, maintains a consistent low at minus 5.0°C. Qazigund witnesses a dip to minus 3.8°C, and Kokernag reports a minimum temperature of minus 1.6°C.

Even in Jammu, traditionally associated with milder temperatures, a slight decrease is noted as the thermometer records 6.7°C compared to the previous night’s 7.1°C. The forecast indicates dry and cold weather persisting in most places of J&K until December 21, with the possibility of very light snow at isolated higher reaches on the night of December 16. Shallow to moderate fog is expected to continue in many places of the Kashmir division.
