Srinagar, Jan 07: In a significant breakthrough, the District Police of Doda successfully apprehended two of the most wanted drug peddlers, identified as Surinder Kumar, son of Hans Raj, a resident of Chakrabhati, and Mohd Sohail alias Sohail Ganja, son of Mohd Aslam from Sarafa Mohalla Bhaderwah.
As per the Doda Police,the arrests were made under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), specifically under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PITNDPS).
“The accused, Surinder Kumar and Mohd Sohail, had been evading law enforcement for an extended period, gaining notoriety for their involvement in the illicit drug trade in the region. Their activities posed a severe threat to the well-being of the community, prompting the District Police to intensify efforts to bring them to justice.
The police, acting on credible intelligence and conducting thorough investigations, successfully tracked down and apprehended the suspects. The arrests were carried out seamlessly, reflecting the dedication and efficiency of the law enforcement agencies in tackling the menace of drug trafficking”.
“Both Surinder Kumar and Mohd Sohail have a history of criminal activities related to drug peddling, and their capture is expected to significantly dent the illegal drug trade network operating in the district. The utilization of the Public Safety Act underscores the seriousness with which the authorities are addressing the issue, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the local community”.
The District Police of Doda have reiterated their determination to eradicate the drug menace from the region, and the recent arrests send a strong message to other elements involved in similar illegal activities.
