Srinagar, Jan 07: In a notable crackdown on illegal mining, Baramulla police apprehended six individuals engaged in the illicit trade during an operation in Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer and Shrai Tangmarg. Acting on credible information, the police conducted a targeted effort leading to the arrest of the suspects involved in the illegal activities.
During the operation, police also seized three tippers and three tractors that were being utilized for the unlawful extraction of minerals from the ecologically sensitive areas.
The suspects, identified as drivers of the confiscated vehicles, were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the illegal mining operation.
The Ferozpora Nallah Kunzer and Shrai Tangmarg areas have been flagged for their environmental significance, making them protected zones.
