Srinagar, Jan 07: The Kashmir Valley woke up to bone-chilling temperatures today, with several areas recording subzero temperatures. Srinagar shivered at -5.6°C, while Pahalgam and Pulwama dipped to -6.5°C and -6.7°C, respectively. Other regions like Qazigund, Kupwara, and Anantnag also experienced freezing conditions, with residents bundling up to brave the cold.
Jammu Region:
Jammu and its surrounding areas experienced a chilly morning, with temperatures hovering around 3.4°C. Banihal, Batote, and Bhaderwah saw even colder temperatures, recording -2.2°C, 2.1°C, and -0.2°C, respectively. Katra and Kathua had relatively milder conditions at 6.0°C and 7.2°C. The region’s residents are advised to stay warm as winter tightens its grip.
Ladakh:
In Ladakh, Leh and Kargil faced severe cold, registering -11.8°C and -10.6°C, respectively. Drass data is not available at the moment. The stark contrast between the warmer regions of Jammu and the frigid landscapes of Ladakh highlights the diverse weather conditions within the union territory.
As winter maintains its icy hold, residents across Kashmir and Ladakh are urged to take necessary precautions to combat the biting cold.
