Srinagar, Feb 14: In its relentless pursuit to combat the scourge of drugs in society, Kulgam Police made a significant breakthrough by apprehending a notorious drug peddler and seizing a substantial quantity of narcotics from his possession.
A police team led by the In-Charge of Police Post Mirbazar, while on patrol duty, observed a suspicious individual at Furrah near Railway bridge. Upon being confronted by the police, the individual attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by the vigilant officers. Identified as Ansar Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, hailing from Peath Bugh Dialgam, Anantnag, the suspect was thoroughly searched, leading to the discovery of 05 grams of Heroin-like contraband.
Ansar Ahmad Mir was promptly taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 41/2024 U/S 8/21 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Qazigund. The investigation into the matter has been initiated, underscoring the unwavering commitment of Kulgam Police in their mission to create a drug-free environment in the region.
