Srinagar, Mar 10: In response to the recent unfortunate incident, authorities at SMHS Hospital have shed light on the case of a 20-year-old youth who was transferred in critical condition from a private hospital. Upon arrival, he was diagnosed with acute abdomen accompanied by sepsis and septic shock.
According to a spokesperson’s statement, immediate action was taken, including resuscitation and obtaining high-risk consent for urgent surgery. Despite the surgical intervention performed at 3:30 am to address Faecal Peritonitis secondary to ileal perforation, the patient’s condition continued to deteriorate. Unfortunately, despite efforts to stabilize him, he succumbed during an attempt to intubate him around 6:00 pm.
The hospital’s statement underscores the severity of the condition, highlighting the high mortality rates associated with Faecal Peritonitis with Septic shock worldwide. Despite the hospital’s best efforts and timely intervention, the patient’s late presentation and complex medical condition led to irreparable shock.
In reaffirming their dedication to patient care, SMHS and affiliated hospitals express their ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standard of healthcare services to all patients in need.
