Waqf Chairperson’s Historic Visit to Pather Masjid in Srinagar; Orders Restoration Ahead of Eid Festival

Srinagar, Mar 27: Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board embarked on a historic visit to the revered ‘Pather Masjid’ in Srinagar.
This marked the first-ever visit by a Waqf Chairperson to the site, which is owned by the Waqf Board and maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
The purpose of the visit was to assess the condition of the masjid and engage with local stakeholders to discuss plans for its restoration.
Amidst a warm welcome from the locals, the Waqf Chairperson took stock of the situation at the historic site, expressing gratitude for the hospitality extended by the community. Deliberations were held with representatives from the local society, providing an opportunity to understand their concerns and aspirations regarding the preservation of the masjid.
During the visit, the Waqf Chairperson issued directives to the Waqf Board authorities to expedite the process of arranging new and elegant matting for the entire prayer area of the masjid before the upcoming Eid festival. This initiative aims to enhance the ambiance of the prayer space and provide worshippers with a comfortable environment during their prayers.
Furthermore, the proposal for the restoration of the historic Pather Masjid was discussed, with plans to collaborate with the ASI in this endeavor. Recognizing the cultural and historical significance of the masjid, efforts will be made to ensure its preservation for future generations to cherish and appreciate.
The visit of the Waqf Chairperson to the Pather Masjid underscores the commitment to safeguarding and promoting the rich heritage of religious sites in the region. By engaging with local communities and initiating restoration efforts, steps are being taken to preserve these invaluable landmarks for posterity, thereby contributing to the cultural tapestry of Srinagar and beyond.
