Khyber Cement celebrates Lavender Day: Local students debate technology, environmental conservation

Srinagar, July 02(KINS): Renowned cement brand Khyber celebrated Lavender Day at its cement factory in the Khanmoh area today. The event attracted students, local residents, and employees of Khyber Cement, along with officials from the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the Pollution Control Board.
The day’s activities featured local students delivering speeches and engaging in debates on the critical subjects of technology and environmental conservation. Their discussions highlighted the urgent need for sustainable practices and the potential of technology to drive positive environmental change.
In an effort to promote environmental sustainability, Khyber Cement has planted lavender plants around its factory. As part of the Lavender Day celebrations, a live demonstration of lavender oil extraction was conducted, providing valuable insights to the students and other participants about the process and benefits of lavender cultivation.
Riyaz Ahmad Tramboo , the Director of Khyber Cement, emphasized the significant role that industries can play in the development of society. “We believe in promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The cultivation of lavender presents a new avenue for local farmers, who have ample land available. By embracing lavender farming, they can significantly benefit economically,” he stated.
Riyaz Ahmad Tramboo reaffirmed the company’s commitment to contributing positively to the local community, underscoring the importance of industries in supporting and uplifting the populace. He highlighted that Khyber Cement is dedicated to implementing initiatives that not only benefit the environment but also enhance the economic well-being of the local population.
The event not only showcased the environmental initiatives undertaken by Khyber Cement but also served as a platform for knowledge sharing and community engagement.
