Srinagar, Aug 31: National Conference (NC) leader and Member of Parliament Aga Ruhullah Mehdi Saturday claimed that the restoration of Article 370 is just the initial step towards fulfilling the party’s commitment to restoring autonomy in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking at a press conference held at Nawa-e-Subha, Mehdi pointed out that while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expressed its desire for a resolution in Kashmir, it lacks a clear roadmap to achieve this goal. He asserted that the NC has a well-defined plan for restoring autonomy in the region.
Mehdi reiterated that Kashmir remains an unresolved issue, stressing the importance of a comprehensive dialogue between India and Pakistan to address the situation permanently. He highlighted the belief among the people of Jammu and Kashmir that only through such dialogue can a lasting solution be reached.
Additionally, Mehdi urged the Service Selection Board (SSB) to reconsider the examination centers assigned to candidates. He requested that aspirants be allotted centers closer to their residences, allowing them more time for exam preparation. (KINS)
