Light rain, snow expected in parts of Kashmir on October 16-17

Srinagar, Oct 14 (KINS): The Meteorological Department has forecasted light rain and snow in some higher reaches of the Kashmir Valley on October 16 and 17.
According to the MeT office, the weather will remain mostly dry across the region over the next 24 hours. However, there is a possibility of a brief spell of very light rain and snow in higher areas of Kupwara and Bandipora in north Kashmir, as well as Ganderbal in central Kashmir, during the late night of October 16 and early morning of October 17.
From October 18 to 19, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy and generally dry through October 22, with no significant weather events anticipated during this time.
As reported by the Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS), farmers in the Kashmir Valley have been advised to continue their harvesting and other agricultural activities.
In terms of temperatures, most weather stations in the valley recorded nighttime temperatures 1 to 2 degrees Celsius above normal, with the exception of the tourist destination Pahalgam, which saw a minimum of 2.7 degrees Celsius, consistent with seasonal averages.

Daytime temperatures on Sunday were also 3 to 6 degrees Celsius above normal, according to the MeT office. (
