Srinagar, Oct 18 (KINS): As the auspicious festival of Karva Chauth approaches, the markets in Jammu are bustling with activity, particularly among women eager to prepare for the celebrations.
News agency KINS reported that vibrant bazaars such as Raghunath Bazaar and Gole Market are witnessing a massive surge in footfall, with hundreds of women flocking to the shops for mehendi application and last-minute shopping.
Stalls offering intricate mehendi designs have popped up in every corner, with long queues of women waiting to adorn their hands. Traditional jewelry, colorful bangles, festive outfits, and cosmetic items are in high demand as women prepare for the day-long fast in devotion to their husbands’ long lives and well-being.
Traders are reporting a significant boost in sales, especially for traditional Karva Chauth items like sargi thalis, puja essentials, and decorative karvas (earthen pots).
Despite inflationary concerns, shoppers are in high spirits, with many expressing joy over the reopening of markets without restrictions this festive season.
The vibrant atmosphere, filled with the chatter of excited shoppers and the rich scent of henna, reflects the strong cultural significance of Karva Chauth in Jammu, marking a resurgence of festivity post-pandemic.(KINS)
