SRINAGAR, Oct 31(KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the J&K UT Foundation Day celebrations in Srinagar, congratulating the people of Jammu and Kashmir on their unwavering dedication to the region’s prosperity and security.
Reflecting on the region’s current status, the Lt Governor acknowledged, “J&K is a Union Territory today, and members have taken an oath, affirming their allegiance to the Constitution. Once statehood is restored, we will undoubtedly celebrate a Statehood Day.” He assured the public that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are committed to restoring statehood at an appropriate time.
Highlighting the achievements over the past five years, the Lt Governor credited the transformation in J&K to the vision and commitment of PM Modi. “J&K today stands tall on the national stage—self-reliant, full of self-confidence. A strong foundation has been laid for rapid development in all sectors,” he said, noting that the growth reflects the fulfillment of the people’s aspirations.
The Lt Governor highlighted key economic strides, particularly in the banking sector, where J&K Bank emerged as a success story. “In 2019-20, J&K Bank reported a loss of Rs. 1,139 crore. By 2023-24, it achieved a profit of Rs. 1,700 crore, with this fiscal year alone seeing a profit of Rs. 991 crore,” Sinha said.
He also reaffirmed J&K’s economic potential, citing strong fundamentals, peace, stability, and democratic values that make the UT an attractive investment destination. The confidence of investors is evident in the record investment inflows over the past four years.
On development, he expressed his vision for prosperity at every level: “My dream is to see every family prosper, with faster infrastructure growth, and the benefits reaching every individual.”
The event also featured cultural performances, honoring the heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, while beneficiaries shared their success stories, embodying the progress of the region. Key dignitaries, including MPs and senior officials, attended, underscoring the importance of the occasion.(KINS)
