Srinagar, Nov 03 (KINS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V. K. Birdi visited SMHS Hospital on Sunday to check on the condition of at least 12 civilians injured in a grenade blast near the Tourism Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar.
The IGP as per news agency KINS, accompanied by other senior officials, visited the hospital to check on the injured individuals
The explosion occurred outside the TRC playground, injuring several people in a busy market area. “The grenade was lobbed in a crowded location, which left at least 12 civilians hurt,” an official stated. “Fortunately, all the injured were said to be safer after being rushed to SMHS Hospital for treatment.
According to reports, the attackers may have missed their intended target, leading to the injuries among bystanders. Reinforcements were sent to the area, and security parameters around the location were cordoned off. “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the attackers,” the official added.
Doctors at SMHS Hospital reported that all the injured individuals are currently stable. Among those hurt were Misba (17), Azaan Kaloo (17), Habibullah Rather (50), Altaf Ahmad Seer (21), Faizal Ahmad (16), Umer Farooq, Faizan Mushtaq (20), Zahid (19), Ghulam Muhammad Sofi (55), and Sumaiya Jan (45), all from various localities in the region.
This grenade attack followed a violent day in Srinagar, where a terrorist was killed and four security personnel were injured during a gunfight in the Khanyar locality.(KINS)
