J&k Police arrest three in connection with grenade attack in Srinagar

Srinagar , Nov 08 ( KINS ) : Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in the grenade attack near the Tourism Reception Centre (TRC) in Srinagar on Sunday, which left 12 people injured.
Following the attack, the police registered an FIR (No. 66/2024) at Kothibagh Police Station under sections 16 of the UAPA, 209, 115 BNS, and 3/4 of the Explosive Substances Act. An investigation was launched, leading to the identification and arrest of the suspects.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
Usama Yaseen Sheikh (28), son of Mohammad Yaseen Sheikh, from Ikhrajpora, Srinagar.
Umar Fayaz Sheikh (25), son of Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh, also from Ikhrajpora, Srinagar.
Afnan Mansoor Naik (27), son of Manzoor Ahmad Naik, from Watoo, currently residing in Ikhrajpora, Srinagar.
According to a police statement, all three suspects are in custody and were actively involved in the criminal conspiracy. Usama Sheikh, one of the arrested individuals, is a listed Over Ground Worker (OGW) with a history of involvement in terror-related activities. Police stated that Sheikh was the one who executed the grenade attack, while Umar Fayaz Sheikh and Afnan Mansoor Naik provided logistical support.
The investigation has also revealed that the trio was acting under the direction of two terrorist handlers from the Pakistan-based and proscribed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) outfit. However, the identities of the terrorist handlers are being withheld at this stage.
The police anticipate further arrests as the investigation continues.( KINS )
