Over 100 Sheep perish in Samba cowshed fire

Srinagar, Jan 22 (KINS): In a tragic incident, over 100 sheep were killed when a fire broke out in a cowshed in the Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir early Wednesday, officials said.
The fire erupted around 3:30 am in the cowshed belonging to Shapian, son of Jamal Din, in Rakh Barotian, Vijaypur tehsil. Four fire tenders were dispatched to the site, and the blaze was brought under control swiftly, officials reported.
“More than 100 sheep were burnt to death in the fire, while a few could be saved,” said Zaheer Mushtaq, Station House Officer of Vijaypur.
Tehsildar Sudesh Kumar assured the affected family of full support. “All possible assistance will be extended to the family, which has suffered a significant loss,” he said.
The incident has left the local community in shock, highlighting the vulnerability of livestock owners to such unforeseen calamities. Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire and assessing the extent of the damage to provide further aid.(KINS)
