Srinagar, Feb 05 (KINS): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, chaired a high-level review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in New Delhi today.
The meeting was attended by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Jammu and Kashmir administration.
Earlier, on the previous day, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also convened an important review meeting on Jammu and Kashmir’s security, which was attended by the Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, the Home Secretary, and other senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Army.
In his address, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completely eliminating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted that due to the sustained and coordinated efforts of the Modi government, the terrorism ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has been significantly weakened. The Home Minister directed all security agencies to intensify the fight against terrorism, setting a target of ‘zero infiltration’. He urged agencies to adopt a ruthless approach in their actions against infiltration and terrorist activities, emphasizing the need to eradicate the existence of terrorists entirely.
Amit Shah also pointed out that the narco network is aiding infiltrators and terrorists in carrying out their activities. He stressed the importance of taking swift and stringent action against terror funding, especially stemming from the narcotics trade.
In addition, the Home Minister directed the agencies to expedite the filling of vacancies in the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to ensure the timely implementation of new criminal laws.
Amit Shah emphasized the Modi government’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy toward terrorism, reiterating that the goal is to achieve a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir. He urged all security agencies to remain vigilant and work in synergy to eliminate terrorism in the region.
The Union Home Minister also commended the efforts of security agencies for the significant improvements made across various parameters of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
