Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq: Congress holds preparatory meeting to strengthen Statehood initiative

Srinagar, Feb 25 (KINS): In a bid to strengthen the Congress Party’s initiative “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” and push for the full restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, the Srinagar District Congress Committee (DCC) held a significant meeting on Tuesday. The meeting focused on preparations for the upcoming political convention, which is a key part of the state-wide mission launched by JKPCC.

The attendees deliberated on the current socio-political scenario in J&K and unanimously resolved to send a strong message to the Central Government through the initiative. The Congress Party reaffirmed its stance that it will not rest until J&K’s statehood is fully restored with all constitutional guarantees.

The district-level conventions, under the leadership of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, are currently being held in the Jammu region as part of Phase I. In Phase II, all districts in the Kashmir region will be covered.

Speakers at the meeting highlighted the importance of the “Hamari Riyasat Hamara Haq” initiative and vowed to make it a success. They emphasized that the Congress Party remains committed to the restoration of complete statehood, which was taken away with the intent of disempowering the people. The conversion of a full-fledged princely state into two Union Territories has only added to the hardships of the people, especially in political, developmental, and economic spheres since the BJP came to power at the Centre.

Congress has launched this mission to fight strongly for the restoration of statehood, dignity, and honor of the people. The speakers urged party workers to actively participate in the upcoming political convention and demonstrate their resolve against what they termed as the Modi Government’s deliberate attempt to undermine the rights and aspirations of J&K’s people.

During the meeting, participants also urged the J&K Government to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity during the holy month of Ramadan. They further called for strict measures to control price hikes, which tend to escalate during the holy month. The government must ensure that all departments perform their duties efficiently for the welfare of the common people.

Senior Congress leaders, including Nissar Ahmad Mundoo, DCC President Irfan Naqib, Dr. Waleed Karra, Er. Danish, and Seerat Bashir, addressed the gathering. They expressed displeasure over the Centre’s deliberate delay in restoring J&K’s statehood. They reiterated that every Congress leader and worker, under the leadership of JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra, would continue to fight for statehood with determination. The speakers criticized the Modi Government for its systematic disempowerment of the people, vowing that the Congress Party remains fully committed to defeating the BJP’s agenda and ensuring justice for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
