Intensive food safety inspections held in Srinagar

Srinagar, Mar 17 (KINS): Acting on the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Srinagar, the Food Safety/Drug and Food Control Organisation (FSDFCO) conducted a comprehensive round of inspections across various industrial units in the Srinagar city, focusing on establishments involved in the manufacturing of bakery items, sweets, and confectionery.

Food department as per news agency KINS said that the inspection team, headed by Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety Srinagar, Yameen ul Nabi, inspected several manufacturing units in the industrial area of Khanmouh, where they took multiple surveillance samples to evaluate the quality of food items produced.

“The operation aimed to ensure that local food businesses comply with the stringent food safety regulations, maintaining high standards of hygiene and quality.

In a separate initiative, another team of Food Safety Officers, comprising Fayaz Ahmad Bhat and Khalid Bashir, carried out inspections at canteens of Children’s Hospital and the JVC market. The team collected seven legal samples for analysis and recommended penalties for four food business operators under section 69 for violating safety standards.

These ongoing inspections are part of the FSDFCO’s efforts to enforce food safety regulations and ensure the health and well-being of consumers in Srinagar. Citizens are encouraged to report any concerns about food quality by calling 104 with supporting evidence”.

“The FSDFCO remains committed to safeguarding the public by regularly inspecting food establishments and taking appropriate actions against those who fail to adhere to the prescribed food safety norms”.(KINS)
