Srinagar July 15 (KINS):To ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the Amarnath Ji Yatra, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted extensive mock drills today along the designated Yatra routes across several districts of the Kashmir Valley, including Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, Pulwama, Kulgam, and Awantipora.
The mock exercises were held at strategically important locations to evaluate the preparedness, coordination, and response capabilities of various security agencies deployed for Yatra duties. The drills simulated multiple threat scenarios such as standoff attacks, attempted fidayeen strikes, IED detection, convoy halts, emergency evacuations, crowd management, and natural disasters like earthquakes and landslides.
Senior police officers supervised the exercises to ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to identify areas for improvement. Special emphasis was placed on high-footfall zones and congestion-prone areas to assess the efficiency of quick reaction teams and disaster response units.
The drills were carried out without causing disruption to pilgrims or the general public. The police appreciated the cooperation and support extended by citizens and Yatris during the mock exercises.(KINS)
