Srinagar, May 17: A delegation representing the Gujjar Bakerwal community met with Home Minister Amit Shah in Srinagar today.
The delegation expressed their gratitude to both the Home Minister and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for addressing their community’s longstanding issues.
Yesterday, a delegation of Pahari leaders also met with the Home Minister in Srinagar.
These meetings are part of a broader initiative by the central government to address the concerns of different communities in the region. Sources indicate that several other delegations had the opportunity to meet with the Home Minister during his visit.
In addition to these community leaders, Amit Shah, who is also a senior BJP leader, met with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Jammu and Kashmir. These meetings aimed to discuss local political dynamics and strategies for the upcoming period.
Sources said that Home minister is leaving for New Delhi today. “Since the MCC is in force in the country due to the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the Union Home Minister may not chair any formal security review meeting as he is shortly leaving for New Delhi,” sources indicate.
Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar late yesterday evening and was welcomed by BJP leaders at The Lalit hotel.Security measures were significantly heightened for the duration of his visit.
