MP Ruhullah Mehdi, MLA Shabir Kullay meet Union Health Minister

Srinagar, Aug 29 (KINS): Member of Parliament Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, accompanied by MLA Shopian Shabir Ahmed Kullay, on Friday called on Union Minister for Health, Prataprao Jadhav, to press for urgent healthcare interventions in Kashmir.

During the meeting as per news agency KINS, the leaders strongly advocated for the expeditious completion of AIIMS Awantipora, terming it a lifeline project for the Valley. They also sought the early sanctioning of MRI facilities at District Hospitals in Shopian and Pulwama, stressing that these districts remain deprived of critical diagnostic infrastructure.

Further, they urged the Union Minister to approve a 50-bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital at Shopian, which they said would provide affordable alternative healthcare options to thousands of residents in South Kashmir.

“These steps are vital not only to strengthen healthcare access in Shopian and Pulwama but also to decongest Srinagar’s tertiary care hospitals, which are currently overburdened with patients from across the Valley,” Mehdi said.

The Union Health Minister assured the delegation that the demands would be given due consideration.(KINS)
