2014–2026 will be golden era for internal security: Amit Shah

Srinagar, Feb 16 (KINS): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the period from 2014 to 2026 will be remembered as a “golden era” in India’s history for strengthening internal security.
Addressing an event in the national capital, Shah said that for nearly three to four decades before 2014, three major challenges had severely affected the country’s internal security — the Kashmir region, the entire Northeast, and Maoist-affected areas spread across eleven states.
He said that decisive steps taken after 2014, including the repeal of Article 370, have helped bring major improvements in these regions.
“After the repeal of Article 370, we have succeeded in reducing violence in Kashmir, the Northeast, and Maoist-affected areas by nearly 80 per cent,” Shah said.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to peace and development, the Home Minister expressed confidence that Maoist violence would soon be eliminated from the country.
“I want to reassure the people of the country that by March 31, 2026, we will succeed in freeing the entire nation from Maoist violence,” he added.(KINS)
