RKFC’s ‘super fan’ Aamir keeps spirit of football alive in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 07 (KINS): In the heart of Srinagar, 30-year-old Aamir Ashraf Bhat from Khayam has emerged as one of the most dedicated supporters of Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC), the region’s pride in the Indian Football League (formerly I-League).
A national-level judo champion himself, Aamir’s passion for sports extends far beyond the mat. For him, football is an emotion, and RKFC is more than just a club—it is a symbol of identity and hope for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir.
A familiar face at the TRC Ground Srinagar, Aamir never misses an opportunity to cheer for his favourite team during home matches. Whether it is freezing winter, snowfall, or heavy rain, his enthusiasm remains unshaken. “I have always supported RKFC. I reach the stadium hours before kickoff. I eagerly wait for every match,” he said.
What makes Aamir stand out is his unique style of support. From painting his face in team colours to wearing eye-catching costumes, including a bear outfit, he brings energy and excitement to the stands. Often seen waving the club’s flag and chanting slogans, many fans regard him as RKFC’s biggest supporter.
Over the years, his consistent presence has made him a well-known figure among players and fellow fans alike. His unwavering dedication reflects the growing football culture in Kashmir, where RKFC has inspired a new generation of sports enthusiasts.
Beyond his love for the game, Aamir also has a message for the youth of the Valley. He believes that sports can play a crucial role in shaping lives. “Young people should come to the stadium and support their home team. It refreshes the mind and keeps them away from drugs and excessive mobile use,” he added. “I myself used to play football. But I suffered injury in my arm while playing which forced me to leave football.”
As RKFC continues to make its mark on the national stage, fans like Aamir remain the heartbeat of the club, turning every match into a celebration of passion, resilience, and community spirit. (KINS)
