Srinagar, Apr 25 (KINS): The Centre has reconstituted the NITI Aayog, appointing Ashok Kumar Lahiri as Vice Chairman along with a new set of full-time members, officials said on Saturday.
The five full-time members include K. V. Raju, M. Srinivas, Abhay Karandikar, Gobardhan Das, and Rajiv Gauba.
Announcing the reconstitution, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his best wishes to the newly appointed Vice Chairman and members for a productive tenure. In a post on X, he expressed confidence that the team would contribute meaningfully to policy innovation and national development.
The Prime Minister noted that NITI Aayog has become a key pillar in India’s policy-making framework, promoting cooperative federalism, driving reforms, and enhancing ease of living. He described the institution as a dynamic platform for innovation and long-term strategic planning across sectors.
The Prime Minister serves as the Chairperson of NITI Aayog.
Following his appointment, Lahiri met Prime Minister Modi in New Delhi. A former Chief Economic Adviser to the Government of India and a member of the 15th Finance Commission, Lahiri is currently a BJP MLA from West Bengal and is not contesting the ongoing Assembly elections in the state.(KINS)
