Dial 112 for emergencies: J&K Police urges public to use ERSS for immediate assistance

Srinagar, Apr 25 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Police has urged the general public to actively utilize the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS)-112 for immediate assistance during emergencies.

The ERSS helpline 112 is a 24×7 integrated emergency service that provides prompt response to incidents such as accidents, law and order situations, medical emergencies, fire incidents, and distress calls, including those involving women and children.

The helpline is managed by professional call handlers, including trained women staff, to effectively assist individuals in distress. The service can be accessed by dialling 112 from any mobile or landline, sending alerts via SMS or SOS/panic buttons (available on the 112 India App), and through the ERSS digital platform (jk.erss.in).

Swift response teams are deployed through GPS-enabled Emergency Response Vehicles to ensure timely assistance.

The public is requested to cooperate with J&K Police and use the facility responsibly. Misuse of the helpline through false or prank calls is a punishable offence. J&K Police reiterated its commitment to ensuring a safe and secure society and called for active public participation in this effort.(KINS)
