Unsettled weather likely in J&K; rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds expected

Srinagar, May 03 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has issued a fresh weather update for Jammu and Kashmir, forecasting generally cloudy conditions with intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms over the next few days.
According to the forecast, on May 3 and 4, most places across the Union Territory are likely to witness light to moderate rain or thundershowers. Thunder, hailstorms, and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 km/h are expected at a few locations, particularly during the afternoon, evening, and night hours.
On May 5, scattered areas may receive brief spells of light rain and thundershowers, mainly in the afternoon. From May 6 to 9, weather conditions are expected to remain largely dry, although isolated areas may experience brief showers during afternoon hours.
Between May 10 and 12, the weather is forecast to stay generally dry, with the possibility of light rain or thundershowers at isolated places during the afternoon.
Advisory:
The MeT Centre has warned of possible thunderstorms, lightning, hailstorms, and gusty winds in parts of Kashmir and Jammu divisions. Authorities have advised suspension of boating and shikara activities on May 3 and 4 during afternoon to evening hours.
Residents are urged to stay indoors during thunder and lightning activity and avoid taking shelter near loose structures, electric poles, or wires. Farmers have also been advised to suspend agricultural operations from May 3 to 5 in view of the adverse weather conditions.(KINS)
