J&K Govt transfers 22 doctors in major health department reshuffle

Srinagar, May 12 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education Department on Tuesday ordered a major reshuffle in the health sector by transferring and posting 22 doctors across various districts and health institutions in the Union Territory.

According to Government Order No. 411-JK(HME) of 2026 dated May 12, the transfers and postings have been made “in the interest of administration and patient care” with immediate effect.

As part of the reshuffle, Dr. Sanjay Arora has been posted as In-charge State Malariologist, while Dr. Rashmi Sharma has been assigned the charge of In-charge Epidemiologist. Dr. Sunil Kailu and Dr. Bashir Ahmad Malik have been posted as In-charge Assistant Directors for Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions respectively.

The government has also assigned Dr. Vinod Sharma as In-charge Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Doda and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Bhat as In-charge CMO Kishtwar. Dr. Bhajan Kour has been posted as In-charge CMO Bandipora, while Dr. Monika Kotwal has been transferred as In-charge Medical Superintendent, Government Hospital Sarwal, Jammu.

Several other doctors have been appointed as Medical Superintendents and Block Medical Officers in districts including Shopian, Reasi, Pattan, Kupwara, Beerwah, Khansahib, Bijbehara, Mendhar and Bishnah.

The order stated that all the assignments are temporary and subject to the outcome of any pending court cases. The transferred doctors have been deemed relieved from their previous postings and directed to immediately join their new places of posting.(KINS)
