Srinagar, Aug 2 (KINS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers across many parts of Jammu and Kashmir over the coming days, with a possibility of heavy rainfall and brief intense showers in some areas.
According to the forecast, from August 2 to 4, many places are likely to witness spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers, mainly during the afternoon, evening, and early morning hours. A few districts may also experience heavy rain, brief intense showers, or torrential rainfall.
From August 5 to 7, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are expected at many places, while a few locations may receive brief intense heavy showers.
Between August 8 and 10, scattered places are likely to receive light rain and thundershowers, with isolated intense showers possible.
The MET Centre has issued an advisory warning of heavy rain and brief intense showers over a few districts of the Jammu division on August 2 and 3.
It also cautioned that torrential rain and intense showers could trigger flash floods, landslides, mudslides, and shooting stones at vulnerable locations during the next five days.
The weather department has advised people, especially those living in flood- and landslide-prone areas, to remain alert and follow official advisories. Travelers have also been urged to exercise caution, particularly on hilly roads and highways.(KINS)
