TAAK HOLDS 18TH ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

Srinagar Sep 10 (KINS): The Travel Agents Association of Kashmir (TAAK) held its 18th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Radisson Collection Hotel & Spa, Riverfront, Srinagar, on September 9 bringing together members of the association, government officials and representatives of various stakeholder organisations to deliberate on key issues concerning Kashmir tourism.

The AGM reviewed the activities of the Association during 2025–26, including participation in major travel trade fairs, FAM trips to lesser-explored destinations, member interactions and initiatives aimed at addressing issues confronting the tourism sector.

In his welcome address, TAAK President Farooq A. Kuthoo urged the government to expedite marketing campaigns for Kashmir and called for bridging the gap between the government and tourism stakeholders through greater coordination and regular dialogue.

Addressing the gathering, Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani emphasised the need for improving hospitality and service standards and called upon tourism stakeholders to conduct themselves responsibly and professionally.

He stressed the importance of promoting Kashmir tourism at all levels, developing tailor-made tourism experiences and ensuring greater community participation in protecting the region’s environment and tourism assets.

Other speakers at the AGM also emphasised the importance of sustainable tourism, preservation of waterbodies and protection of Kashmir’s fragile environment, calling for responsible conduct by all stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of tourism activities.

The AGM was attended by MLA Gulmarg Farooq A. Shah, MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq, SSP Traffic Srinagar Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IPS), Joint Director Tourism Kashmir Wasim Raja (JKAS), Chairman Hoteliers Club Mushtaq Chaya, social activist Raja Muzaffar, KCCI Secretary General Faiz Bakshi, veteran hotelier GM Dug besides heads of various travel trade associations and other stakeholders.

Past Presidents of TAAK Rauf Tramboo, Peerzada Fiayaz and Ashfaq Siddiq were also present on the occasion.

During the AGM, the prestigious Manzoor Siddiq Memorial Award was presented to prominent hotelier Mohammad Amin Tramboo in recognition of his contribution to the hospitality and tourism sector.

During the AGM , members of the association provided feedback, suggestions on improving overall ecosystem of the tourism.

The AGM concluded with a collective call for responsible tourism, improved service standards, effective destination marketing, stakeholder coordination and sustainable management of Kashmir’s tourism resources.
Vote of thanks was presented by Vice President Habibullah Pandow.
