Srinagar, Sep 24 (KINS): Thirteen members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly have jointly approached the Speaker, seeking permission for a 45-minute discussion in the House on the acute shortage and non-availability of construction material across Jammu and Kashmir.
The legislators said the shortage and uncertain availability of essential materials, including sand, stone, aggregates and concrete, was adversely affecting the progress of roads, bridges, hospitals, schools, water-supply schemes and other development projects. They said the situation was also leading to project delays and increased construction costs.
The members urged the Speaker to allow a discussion so that the government could apprise the House of the reasons behind the shortage and the measures being taken to address the issue, while ensuring adequate and uninterrupted availability of construction material in Jammu and Kashmir.
The letter was signed by MLAs Javid Hassan Baigh, Justice Hasnain Masoodi, Nizamuddin Bhat, Hilal Akbar Lone, R.S. Pathania, Irfan Hafiz Lone, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Javid Ahmad Mirchal, Dr Sajad Shafi, Dr Mohammad Shafi, Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, Farooq Ahmad Shah and Niaz Ahmad Jan.(KINS)
