RKFC to face Sreenidi Deccan in IFL clash
Srinagar, Nov 6: Real Kashmir Football Club (RKFC) will lock horns with Sreenidi Deccan FC in an Indian Football League (IFL) encounter at the TRC Ground in Srinagar on Saturday.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:30 pm and will be played under floodlights.
The host club has made necessary arrangements for the match with the support of the administration, particularly the J&K Sports Council, J&K Police and other concerned departments.
RKFC is the only club from Jammu and Kashmir competing in the Indian Football League. Owned by Arshad Nizam Shawl, the club has a squad comprising local, national and international players.
Addressing a pre-match press conference, RKFC head coach Ishfaq Ahmad described Sreenidi Deccan as a strong side but expressed confidence in his team’s preparations.
“They have a new coach who has been in India for a good amount of time. They have recruited a good squad this season. We are ready to take them on. If we stick to our plan, I hope we will get a positive result,” he said.
Referring to RKFC’s previous match, Ishfaq said the team could not get the desired result, adding that ups and downs were part of football.
“Ups and downs are part of football. This is a new game, and I hope we will get a favourable result in this match,” he said.
He also appealed to RKFC supporters to turn up in large numbers and encourage the home team.
RKFC player Marcus Joseph said the team had been training for a considerable period and working on new tactics ahead of the encounter.
“We are fully prepared to play this game,” he said, urging people to come forward and support the local team.
