Chinar Open Winter Games 2024 Concludes with Record-breaking Participation in Gulmarg

Srinagar, February 28, 2024: The Chinar Open Winter Games 2024, an initiative spearheaded by the Indian Army and held in the breathtaking locales of Gulmarg, concluded on February 28th with resounding success. Organized by the Dagger Division of Chinar Corps, the event witnessed an unprecedented participation of 676 individuals, showcasing exceptional athleticism, sportsmanship, and camaraderie amidst the snow-capped peaks of the Pir Panjal Ranges.

The Winter Games aimed to channel the energy and enthusiasm of Kashmiri youth into constructive and competitive endeavors, providing a positive outlet amidst the scenic beauty of the region. Despite severe temperature drops, participants displayed unwavering enthusiasm, with registrations ongoing until February 27th, highlighting the fervor of young athletes eager to showcase their talents.

More than just a sporting event, the Chinar Open Winter Games also engaged local communities through outreach programs, emphasizing inclusivity and community participation. The Indian Army’s commitment to promoting sports was evident, providing a platform for budding talents from across the Valley. From skiing races to snowboarding competitions, the event featured a diverse range of winter sports, showcasing the remarkable skills of the region’s youth.

Hazika Tarooq of Srinagar District claimed the top position in the Giant Slalom category for females under 18, while Vakar Ahmad Lone from Baramulla secured a gold medal in Snowboarding. As the curtains fell on the event, organizers expressed gratitude to participants, volunteers, and supporters, with plans already underway to expand and enhance future editions of the Chinar Open Winter Games. This landmark event signifies a significant milestone in Kashmir’s sporting history, heralding an era of inclusivity and excellence.
