DGP J&K and Senior Officers Interact with Probationary IPS Officers at PHQ

Srinagar, July 18: A group of 28 probationary IPS officers from the 76 RR batch of the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), Hyderabad, visited the Police Headquarters in Jammu and Kashmir as part of their Study-cum-Cultural tour. During their visit, the officers had the opportunity to interact with R.R. Swain, IPS, Director General of Police, J&K, and other senior officers, gaining valuable insights into the workings of the J&K Police.
In his welcome address, M.K. Sinha, IPS, ADGP (Headquarters/Coordination) PHQ/Security J&K, introduced the officers to the geographical uniqueness of the region and the distinct policing-related challenges. He emphasized the crucial role played by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in the overall security framework.
Iftikhar Talib, JKPS, SP Operation, Srinagar, delivered a detailed presentation on the pivotal role of the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the J&K Police in counter-terrorism. His presentation covered the origins, achievements, and future challenges of the SOG, highlighting its capabilities in intelligence generation and conducting kinetic operations.
The Director General of Police, J&K, discussed the unique challenges faced by the J&K Police over the past three decades. He addressed topics such as hybrid terrorism and the coordinating role of the J&K Police among various security and intelligence agencies operating in the region.
The probationary officers participated in a question-and-answer session, where senior officers addressed their queries, fostering a deeper understanding of the law enforcement machinery in the Union Territory.
Saurabh A. Narendra, IPS (P), presented the vote of thanks on behalf of the visiting group. The session concluded with the presentation of a memento to the coordinating officer, Shri Sandeep Singh, by the Director General of Police, J&K. Additionally, DGP J&K received a souvenir from the Director General of the SVP National Police Academy.
Senior officers, including Nitish Kumar, IPS ADGP CID J&K, V.K. Birdi, IPS IGP Kashmir, B.S. Tuti, IPS IGP (Headquarters/POS) PHQ/Traffic J&K, Nisha Nathyal, IPS DIG (Headquarters) PHQ, and other senior officers, were present on the occasion.
