LG Sinha reviews situation after Amarnath Yatra bus from Rajasthan catches fire in Ramban, all pilgrims safe; major tragedy averted

Srinagar, July 16 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday reviewed the situation after a bus carrying Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims from Rajasthan caught fire near Karol in Ramban district while returning from the holy cave. All passengers escaped unhurt, averting a major tragedy.
The Lieutenant Governor spoke to Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, and other senior officials, directing them to provide immediate assistance to the affected pilgrims and ensure their safe onward journey.
In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said:”I have reviewed the situation with senior officials and Deputy Commissioner Ramban, after a Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrim bus from Rajasthan returning after Darshan caught fire at Karol due to a tyre burst. By Lord Shiva’s grace, all pilgrims are safe. I have directed the Ramban district administration to provide immediate assistance to the Yatris and arrange for their safe travel back to Rajasthan.”
According to officials, the incident occurred on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway near Karol when the bus suddenly caught fire, reportedly following a tyre burst, triggering panic among the passengers.
The driver acted swiftly by stopping the vehicle, enabling all pilgrims to evacuate safely before the flames engulfed the bus.
Fire and Emergency Services personnel, along with the police, rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control. The bus, however, was extensively damaged in the incident.
Officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported as all passengers were rescued in time.
The incident temporarily affected traffic movement on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway until the damaged vehicle was removed. Authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.(KINS)
