KPDCL encourages solar rooftop installations under PM surya ghar initiative

Ishtiyaq Kar

Srinagar, July 27: The Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is actively promoting the installation of grid-connected solar rooftop systems through the Pradhan Mantri Surya Ghar scheme.
This initiative is designed to help residents cut down on their electricity expenses, advance sustainable energy practices, and take advantage of attractive government subsidies.
A KPDCL representative highlighted the key advantages of solar energy adoption: “Installing grid-connected solar rooftops allows residents to significantly lower their electricity costs while supporting a greener environment. The PM Surya Ghar scheme presents an excellent chance for households to achieve energy independence and benefit from substantial government subsidies.”
The PM Surya Ghar initiative is a component of the national renewable energy mission, aimed at boosting solar energy use across the country. Under this scheme, homeowners can apply online through authorized solar vendors to have solar panels installed on their rooftops.
This setup enables them to generate their own electricity and feed any excess power back into the grid.
The KPDCL officials noted the streamlined application process: “We’ve made it easier for residents to apply online via our network of accredited solar vendors. This approach not only reduces the initial investment required but also ensures that installations are carried out by qualified professionals, adhering to high standards of quality and safety.”
By adopting solar energy, residents can expect a significant decrease in their monthly electricity bills.
Additionally, generating their own power helps reduce carbon emissions and reliance on conventional energy sources.
KPDCL is urging residents to take advantage of the available subsidies and contribute to a sustainable future. “Renewable energy is the way forward. By participating in the PM Surya Ghar initiative, residents are not only reducing their utility costs but also investing in a sustainable future for generations to come,” the officials added.(KNS)
