Additional Paramilitary forces begin arriving in JK for Assembly Elections

Ishtiyaq Kar

Srinagar, Aug 29 (KINS): Additional companies of paramilitary forces have started arriving in Jammu and Kashmir as preparations continue for the three-phase Assembly elections, with the first phase set to begin on September 18.
The Union Home Ministry has kept the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies, which were initially sent to the region for the Shri Amarnath Ji pilgrimage in June. These forces are now being deployed to ensure security during the upcoming elections on September 18, 25, and October 1.
“Along with the forces already in place, more CAPF units are being sent to the Union Territory. Some have already arrived, while others are expected to reach in the coming days,” sources told KINS.
These paramilitary forces will handle various duties, including patrolling areas, manning polling stations, and securing locations for election rallies. The deployment will be particularly strong in the hilly areas of Jammu districts, which are considered sensitive due to the presence of foreign militants.
“The number of election rallies, especially those to be addressed by high-profile leaders, is expected to increase significantly. The security forces are fully prepared to manage security for these events,” sources added.
“With the increase in rallies and the sensitive nature of some areas, the additional deployment of CAPF is essential for ensuring a peaceful election process,” said a security official. The combined efforts of JKP and the paramilitary forces aim to maintain a strong security presence, ensuring the elections are conducted smoothly and safely. (KINS)
