Traffic advisory issued for Tangmarg-Gulmarg road following Snowfall

Srinagar, Dec 28 (KINS): In light of the heavy snowfall that has rendered the Tangmarg-Gulmarg road slippery and hazardous, the District Magistrate of Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, has issued a traffic advisory under Section 163 of the BNSS, 2023.
The advisory places restrictions on vehicle movement in the area to prevent accidents and ensure the safety of motorists.
As per the order, no heavy vehicles or passenger buses will be permitted beyond Tangmarg.
“Light Vehicles carrying essential commodities, passengers, or tourists can only proceed towards Gulmarg if they are equipped with anti-skid chains.
Tourist Vehicles will not be allowed to travel on the road before 8:00 AM or after 6:00 PM.The Executive Engineer, M&HD Baramulla, is tasked with clearing snow from the entire Tangmarg-Gulmarg road and the Gulmarg bowl area”.
News agency KINS reported that the order also highlights that this restriction does not apply to essential services such as Magistrates, Army, CAPF, Police, and other government officials. Violations of the advisory are punishable under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
The public is advised to follow the instructions to avoid accidents and ensure smooth travel in the region during the ongoing snowfall.(KINS)
