Srinagar, Sep 14 (KINS): Cyber Police Kulgam has successfully resolved multiple cases of online financial fraud, recovering a total of ₹4,45,449.
In a statement issued to news agency KINS, the police acted on five separate complaints involving fraudulent schemes with amounts of ₹3,86,000, ₹30,000, ₹20,219, ₹6,230, and ₹3,000. These scams typically involved fake investment opportunities, where victims were lured with promises of high returns for additional deposits.
Acting swiftly, Cyber Police Kulgam gathered evidence and crucial information from the victims. Employing advanced cyber techniques, they managed to freeze the fraudulent transactions, ultimately recovering the total amount of ₹4,45,449. The recovered funds have since been credited back to the victims in all five cases.
Kulgam Police has issued a public advisory urging citizens to remain vigilant against online scams, such as fake trading platforms. They advise avoiding suspicious links, fake SMS credit messages, and unauthorized applications. The public is also warned against sharing personal information online or engaging in video calls from unknown numbers.
