Mega eye camp for cataract surgeries at CHC Uri Bla

Srinagar, Dec 02 (KINS): A transformative healthcare initiative took center stage today as a mega eye camp for cataract surgeries was inaugurated at the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Uri.
The program, designed to address visual impairments in the region, was officially launched by Dr. Sajjad Shafi, MLA Uri.
Organized under the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, the camp is a collaborative effort led by the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Baramulla and Block Medical Officer (BMO) Uri. It aims to provide free cataract surgeries and follow-up care to underserved populations in Uri and surrounding areas.
While inaugurating the event, Dr. Sajjad Shafi underscored the importance of accessible and affordable healthcare for rural communities. “Quality healthcare is a fundamental right, and this initiative ensures that the people of Uri have access to vital medical services. Cataract surgeries can be life-changing, and this camp is a step toward improving the quality of life for many,” he said.
The camp has garnered a strong response, with numerous locals registering for free consultations and surgical procedures. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and staffed by a team of skilled ophthalmologists and paramedics, the camp is poised to address the backlog of cataract cases in the region.
The Chief Medical Officer, Baramulla, praised the initiative, saying, “This program exemplifies the power of teamwork and the shared commitment to enhancing healthcare in rural areas. Our dedicated medical professionals, supported by visionary leadership, are making a tangible difference in people’s lives.”
Running for several days, the camp will provide not only surgeries but also comprehensive follow-up care, ensuring lasting benefits for the community. This initiative stands as a beacon of hope, bringing advanced eye care to those who need it the most.(KINS)
