Jammu, Dec 27 (KINS): Light rain has been recorded in Jammu plains since this afternoon, leading to cold weather across the city.
The rain, which started in the afternoon, continued as this report was filed.
News agency KINS reported that in addition to the rain, several areas in the Jammu region witnessed snowfall, adding a wintry touch to the higher altitudes.
Snowfall was reported in parts of Doda, Ramban, and Kishtwar districts, where temperatures dropped further.
Meanwhile, South Kashmir also experienced snowfall in various regions, including Bijbehara, Shopian, Kulgam, and parts of Pulwama district. These areas are now covered in a fresh white blanket, much to the delight of locals and tourists alike.
The weather department had earlier predicted snowfall in higher altitudes and favorable conditions for snow in parts of South Kashmir, which has now come true.
The authorities have urged people to remain cautious, especially while traveling, as slippery roads and reduced visibility may pose challenges in snow-affected areas.
The ongoing rain and snow have brought a much-anticipated winter feel to the Jammu and Kashmir, with residents welcoming the weather despite the accompanying cold wave.(KINS)
