Cyber Cell Ganderbal recovers 16 Lakh worth of smartphones; resolves financial fraud cases

Srinagar, Dec 31 (KINS): The Cyber Cell of J&K Police in Ganderbal has achieved significant success, recovering stolen property worth ₹16 lakhs and accounting for ₹17 lakhs in financial frauds within nine months of its establishment in March 2024.
The Cyber Cell has recovered 87 mobile phones valued at ₹16 lakhs, 74 of which have already been returned to their rightful owners. The remaining 13 were handed over during a special ceremony today.
Additionally, the Cyber Cell has resolved financial fraud cases totaling ₹17 lakhs, with ₹3,78,527 already credited back to the victims’ accounts. It has also successfully addressed 56 cases of blackmailing and social media account hacking, offering relief to affected individuals.
SSP Ganderbal, speaking at the event, reiterated the police’s commitment to curbing cybercrime and urged the public to report incidents promptly. A 24/7 cyber helpline (9541786772) has been launched to assist the community.(KINS)
