Rajouri, Jan 21 (KINS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah visited Rajouri to address the ongoing health crisis in the Badhal Village, where several deaths, particularly among children, have been reported.
He assured the public that the government is focused on understanding and stopping the cycle of deaths.
“Our priority is to stop the cycle of deaths. Since the first incident, the health department has been in constant contact with other departments, including local organizations, to understand the reasons behind this unfortunate situation,” Omar told reporters, as per news gathering agency KINS.
He said that investigations are ongoing, with no bacterial or viral infections identified so far. “All the necessary tests have been conducted, and we currently have no information pointing to bacteria or viruses as the cause,” he stated.
Omar said that the majority of the deceased belong to three families, who are related to each other. The police have launched a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the causes of these deaths, and a team from the central government is also in the region to collect samples and gather more data.
“We are committed to finding answers through the combined efforts of the civil administration, the police SIT, and the government of India team,” he assured.
Omar also emphasized the need for better healthcare infrastructure in remote areas and acknowledged the limitations of building large hospitals everywhere. “We cannot establish big hospitals in every location, but we will improve basic healthcare facilities like PHCs and CHCs,” he added.
The situation is under investigation, and authorities are determined to prevent further incidents.(KINS)
