Srinagar, May 01 (KINS): National Investigation Agency (NIA) Director General visited Pahalgam on Thursday to review the ongoing probe into the April 22 terror attack that killed 25 tourists and one local resident.

The visit comes amid an intensified investigation, with multiple NIA teams having already combed the remote Baisaran meadow—the isolated, foot-accessible site where the attack took place. Officials said the NIA chief’s on-ground assessment is aimed at ensuring a coordinated and swift progress in the case.

Sources confirmed that DG Date was briefed by senior officers involved in the probe, which has seen significant developments in recent days. The agency has already recorded statements from several eyewitnesses and individuals who were nearby when the assault occurred.

In response to the massacre, security forces have launched large-scale anti-terror operations across South Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches and identified three suspects—two Pakistani nationals and one local militant affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The suspects have been named as Adil Hussain Thokar of Anantnag, and Pakistani nationals Ali Bahi alias Talha Bahi, and Hashim Musa alias Suleman. Authorities believe the attack was meticulously planned and executed by the trio.

The NIA, along with other security agencies, continues its multi-agency efforts to track down the perpetrators and dismantle the broader terror network behind the attack.(KINS)
